The Litelok Welsh Cycling Awards 2019

Last Saturday saw the 2019 Litelok Welsh Cycling Awards take place at the Swalec Cricket Stadium in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. This is the second year that Litelok has been the headline sponsor and we couldn’t be prouder. It is a fantastic evening where the Welsh cycling community is celebrated, and individuals are recognised for all their hard work.

The evening was hosted by BBC Radio Wales and ITV presenter Dot Davies who did a wonderful job introducing people throughout the night. We saw many incredible people take to the stage to receive their awards including 13-year-old Aled Davies who won the Inspiring Young Person award, Laura Jeremiah who won Coach of the year, and Rob Warren who won Event Volunteer of the year. Litelok’s own Neil Barron took to the stage to award Beth Cole the Litelok Club Volunteer of the year award for her work as a member of Whitchurch Cycling Club.

Neil Barron with Beth Cole, winner of the Club Volunteer of the Year award, and the runners up. All three are inspiring, it's a shame only one could win.

Congratulations must also go to James Ball who won the Elite Performance of the Year award. This award is made even more special as it was decided through a public vote with Bell capturing 48%, beating last years Litelok Outstanding Achievement award winner Geraint Thomas.

As well as the awards ceremony, each guest had the opportunity to take home a Quella bike, all they had to do was unlock the Litelok Silver securing it. At the start of the night, everyone was given a key, however only one of these keys fitted inside the lock. After many people unsuccessfully tried their luck, Jess tried her key and managed to unlock the Litelok, winning herself, not only a Litelok Silver, but also a brand new Quella bike. Huge congratulations to Jess, we really hope you enjoy your new bike and lock.

Hundreds of people tried their keys in the Litelok Silver but there was only one winner.

The entire Litelok team had a wonderful evening and would like to congratulate the winners on their achievements. We were truly inspired by all the people who give so much to promoting and encouraging Welsh Cycling
